Procedure for becoming a member of the Syncope Youth Message Board
The Syncope Youth message board where you sufferers can share their syncope troubles, ask questions to one another and write to other people with the same medical condition for advice and support. It provides an opportunity for sufferers to express any worries they may have, discuss stories and experiences and reassure each other in difficult and unfamiliar times. It’s also a place for sufferers to amongst each other share stories about their daily experiences, their pets, favourite TV programmes etc.
How to sign up:
Rules about writing on the Syncope Youth message board:
- This board is moderated, which means we check every message before putting it online.
- You must sign up and be approved by STARS as a member before you can start posting messages on this message board.
- Please start chatting but please don’t swear, or talk about inappropriate topics as your message won’t be put on the message board! We don’t want to offend or upset anyone.
How to Sign up for the Syncope Youth message board:
- To become a members click on the link below.
- Next click on: sign up/ join.
- Complete the information page, and decide a password.
- Click ‘submit’.
- Very soon you will receive an e-mail asking you to click on the Yahoo link to verify your membership. You will need to re-type in your password to verify your membership.
- Hey presto! You are a fully fledged, signed up member of the Syncope Youth Notice Board!
- Get posting! Every time you post a message, all members will be notified of the new posting and so able to reply more quickly!
How to moderate a message:
- Only approved members can moderate the Syncope Youth message board. Every time a message is posted, an email will be sent to the Yahoo inbox, where the option of reading and approving or rejecting the message is available.
- Click on the link to open the message. At this stage you can only read the message, so before it can be posted; the message needs to be edited, even if the content is suitable.
- No personal email addresses are to be given out so in the ‘From’ tab, the email address needs to be deleted, leaving just the senders name, eg ‘Peanut’.
- As there are several messages posted throughout the day, there is a subject box to narrow down a search for members. The subject can be as simple as ‘To Soph...’, or can be more specific to the content of the message, eg ‘ECG test tomorrow!!’
- The message itself needs to be read to ensure that all the content is appropriate and will not offend any of the other members. No swearing is allowed, no graphic stories, no offensive material etc. If in doubt, please email the message (before approving) to the other moderators (Trudie / Francesca / Jo) for their opinion and wait for a reply before going any further.
- To delete any irrelevant content and jumbled up text, tick the small box, beneath the message, that has ‘Delete this item’ next to it.
- Once the message has been edited, click ‘update’, ensure you haven’t forgotten anything, eg deleting the members personal email address, if all is ok, click approve!!
